JOHN WEBSTER

John Webster is known for his work with Disrupted Realism, a style of painting that combines elements of traditional realism with abstract expressionism. Disrupted Realism is characterized by distorted or fragmented images, bold brushwork, and unexpected colour choices. His paintings are often inspired by the natural world, with wildlife, portraiture and landscapes as recurring themes. He approaches these subjects in a non-traditional way, using a variety of techniques to create a sense of movement and dynamism in his paintings.

Webster's Disrupted Realism paintings often feature bold, vibrant colours, applied in thick, impasto layers. He also employs a variety of textures and signature mark-making techniques to create a sense of depth and dimension in his work. The resulting paintings blend recognizable imagery amidst the ‘disruptions’ of paint and colour.

Born in Quebec City, John pursued a career in advertising before moving west to pursue a career in fine art. He has been represented by Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont in Banff, Jasper and Whistler since 2015 and has received critical acclaim for his innovative approach to traditional imagery.
